Overview
The Burgettstown Area School District is committed to taking proactive measures to protect the safety of our students and staff members. We have made preparations to deal effectively with emergency situations that could occur in or around the school while classes are in session. Our goal is to be as prepared as possible for any potential emergency. Our priority at all times is to protect all students and staff from harm.
A.L.I.C.E is a school safety program developed to offer additional options to students and staff in dealing with a violent intruder situation. The letters A.L.I.C.E are an acronym that stands for: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. These five components form the basis of the program's age-appropriate training.
The school district implemented the A.L.I.C.E program with staff, students and parents in 2015. Age-appropriate training for all district students incorporates information from the A.L.I.C.E program and is part of the lockdown procedures used during drills during the school year.
